Welcome to Your Jewish Community

Limmud Atlanta + SE is a unique Jewish community: a place where the agenda is set by volunteers for volunteers – by you. LimmudFest is a place where you are encouraged to be creative, take risks: try new things. Everyone teaches and everyone learns. Everyone is responsible for the experience this weekend. You make it happen. That’s why there are no participants or volunteers at LimmudFest: instead, everyone is a volunticipant

My Father My Lord: A Child Of The Ultra-Orthodox In Film

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule and see who's attending!

Children in films for adult audiences are not that common; ultra-Orthodox children are even more of a rarity. Possible points for discussion may include: How is the fact that the writer and director is a former Haredi Jew visible in the film through its style and legible through its themes? What cinematic techniques are employed to approximate the experience of a child? How does this film differ from other films made by Israelis that depict the ultra-Orthodox lifestyle? How is this film, through its theme and even its structure, a parable?
