What exactly makes one human according to Jewish law? The legend of the Golem, the anthropomorphic being created entirely from inanimate matter, forced Jewish thinkers and devisors throughout the ages to grapple with the line that separates man from machine. Far from being only a theoretical question, this issue has many practical ramifications for our own lives. In this class, we will explore the conceptual and constructive concerns surrounding Man playing God.
